Procedure:

You typically thread the die into the press until it barely touches the shell holder when the ram is at its highest position, then you back off a bit.
- Adjust the bullet seating depth: Different firearms and different types of ammunition require different bullet seating depths. You can generally find the correct depth in a reloading manual or online. Once you have this information, you can adjust the bullet seating depth on the die. This is typically done by turning a screw or dial on the die.
- Place the case in the press: After the die is set up, put a prepared cartridge case into the shell holder on the press.
- Place the bullet on the case: Place the bullet on top of the case. Make sure it is aligned straight with the case.
- Press the bullet into the case: Slowly operate the press to press the bullet into the case. The seating die will push the bullet into the case to the depth you set earlier.
- Check the cartridge: After seating the bullet, check the overall length of the cartridge to make sure it matches the specifications. You can use a caliper to do this. If it's too long or too short, you'll need to adjust the seating die and try again.
- Repeat: Once you've successfully seated a bullet, repeat the process with the rest of your cases.
